WELFARE PROGRAM

Captain Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Trust (CMAST) has devised a welfare program for needy and destitute patients without any discrimination of gender, colour, and religion. In this regard a complete Zakaat and Sedqa manual is formulated as per Sharia شريعة , and approved by the Board of the Trustees of CMAST. The manual/policy lays down the minimum standards that the hospital management has to comply in indentifying the needy, Mustahiqeen, patients and as well as the use of the funds on the entitled/Mustahiqeen patients.

Registration Process

The registration process for the Mustahiq (deserving) applicant is made simple.  The applicant fills the prescribed form, which goes through a verification review by the Zakat Committee. This review includes interviews of the applicant and possible visit to the residence of the applicant / family. If Zakat Committee finds the case genuine it submits to  CMAST management for the final decision. The registration process has three simple steps as described below:

  1. A blank application form will be provided to the Zakat applicant / entitled person by CMAST representative of the Administration Department at the reception desk.
  2. The staff will briefly explain the requirements of the application and if necessary help the applicant fill in the form.
  3. The staff will verbally verify the written information with the patient. The application form will be given to the applicant to attach the required documents, get the income verified by the local authorities and submit the completed application to the Accounts department of the CMAST for processing,

Fatwa on Zakat For Our Hospital

When we started collecting Zakat we approached Maulana Mufti Taqi Usmani sahib for guidance and advice on how we should use Zakat at the hospital. He issued a Fatwa and Alhamdulillah we have been following it for years to the best of our sincere efforts.

Donation Flow

To maintain the transparency of the donation in terms of cash, the Trust currently holds three separate bank accounts i.e. Zakaat, In-Kind Donation/Sedqa, and the expenditure. The entire cash donation in terms of Zakaat or Sedqa is deposited to the respective bank account. The hospital management transfers the required amount as per the actual expenditure incurred on the free treatment from Zakaat/Donation accounts to the expenditure account.
